The study aims towards the formulation of an herbal sanitizer, its components and specification, and why it is best the suits the purpose. The study identifies the oregano herb, which possesses antibacterial characteristics as the main component, and is therein mixed with baobab. Baobab has inflammatory properties. Further, the authors explain the methods that lead to the final product. The study explains that oregano and baobab are mixed with glycerin, which performs as a humectant and emulsifying agent. In place of a gelling agent, Carbomer was useful. Following the mixture, the characterization study includes anti-microbial analysis, anti-oxidant essay, pH, stability, viscosity, anti-bacterial efficacy, and spreadability. The characterization process helps determine whether the attained levels of the mixture meet the required specifics of an anti-bacterial hand sanitizer. The complete identification, mixing, and characterization process is done with utmost care, purity, and consideration of the final best-fit effective results. The results from the analysis of the study project that the hand sanitizer contained specific, robust activity against pathogenic bacterial growth, but it was harmless to the skin. The study will help in my research study, where I will use it to emphasize the importance of hand sanitization in every sector of human life. It will help ascertain the need to prevent the spread of diseases caused by viruses, fungi, bacteria and provide the components and specifications required for an anti-bacterial hand sanitizer. In addition, it will help me explain the availability and ease of manufacture of hand sanitizers through the explained mixing and analysis methods used in the study.
Shree, M. K., Rani, S. L., & Brundha, M. P. (2020). Knowledge and awareness on the role of hand sanitizer in the prevention of covid 19-a questionnaire survey. International Journal of Current Research and Review, 12(19 Special Issue).
The article aims to gauge the understanding of the population on the decontamination of hands and to assess the importance accorded to hand hygiene in the prevention of infectious diseases. The narration that mortality, morbidity, and cost of treatment raise the magnitude of infection control activities forms the stage for the study. Hand hygiene is the utmost significant element in the prevention of infectious diseases. In addition, the study shows that hands are very critical to the daily activities of the general population, and they are the main body part that accesses every infection entry parts of the body, such as eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and skin. The authors explain that not only are hand sanitizers important in the current COVID-19 pandemic but there are numerous environmental hazards and infections that hand sanitizers can prevent. Following the research, though they varied among age groups, they show that 57% of the population choose hand sanitizer in place of water and soap for their hand hygiene. Additionally, Shree and colleagues explain that 80% of the general population has knowledge and consciousness on the significance of hand hygiene through hand sanitization. The population also agrees that hand sanitization is critical in the prevention of infectious diseases. The results from the study will help my research in explaining to the public why they need to use hand sanitizers, inclusive of anti-bacterial, alcohol-based, and waterless cleaners, in preventing environmental hazards and infections.
Hillier, M. D. (2020). Using effective hand hygiene practice to prevent and control infection. Nurs Stand, 35(5), 45-50.
The study objectifies in explaining the procedures and guidelines necessary for personal working in a hazardous environment on effective hand hygiene. It also outlines the intricate factors that can hinder effective hand hygiene and its compliance. Hillier, an experienced nurse, and scholar explain that hand hygiene practice is the most important practice in preventing environmental infections. In addition, the author explains that the use of water and soap is adequate but limited to some aspects such as place of works, traveling, and lack of correct knowledge on effective decontamination techniques. Such factors, the author explains, may hinder effective hand washing, thus breeding cross-infection in workplace environments. Another emphasis the study has is on the importance of always maintaining hand hygiene, not only through pandemics or health disasters. It narrates that it is crucial, especially at public places such as work or school, for the systems to promote overall, regular, and self-initiated hand hygiene. This sensation can be done by explaining the importance of hand sanitizers as a health requirement to prevent environmental infections. The study further explains that anti-bacterial hand sanitizers are universally accepted in the world. Mainly due to its lack of alcohol usage, since most religions are against alcohol use. Hence, hand hygiene by anti-bacterial hand sanitizers and waterless cleaners are optimal in public and workplaces to prevent infectious diseases. The findings and discussions from the study will help me explain the importance of safety, safety measures, and guidelines required to be complied with in workplaces and the public. Further, it will help me understand and explain the importance of hand sanitizers and waterless hand cleaning methods to stay safe from environmental infections.
