Do Media Have An Ethical Responsibility?

Do media have an ethical responsibility?

When I was young, my parents brought me to the cinema every week. At the time, smartphones were still considered harmful to adolescents’ health, and the big screen of the cinema told me the rules of the outside world: the loyalty and faith of ancient heroes, the game of power in modern workplaces, and fairytales of Disney cartoons. My grandma once told me that when she was young, the radio was the only link connects her to the outside world. In her boring daily life, this little black box told her about the various interesting lifestyles and news. Media has accompanied human’s development for generations. As people rely more and more on the media, the moral responsibility of the media becomes even more important.

PERSUASIVE ESSAY ASSIGNMENT

Choosing one of the topics provided below, write a 700-800 word persuasive essay. This is informal in nature and should reflect your own beliefs. You may use facts, anecdotes, quotations, dialogue and descriptive detail. Follow these steps:

A) Break the topic down and consider all possible points supporting both sides of the topic.

B) Choose which side of the topic you might argue more effectively, and develop as many points as possible before writing your rough draft.

C) While writing your introduction, define your terms (e.g. technology, fast, values, isolated, master, etc) and clearly communicate your thesis, either implicitly or explicitly.

D) When writing your body paragraphs, you must include a paragraph in which you introduce the opposing side of the argument and demonstrate its weaknesses. For an effective example of this technique, read “The Enchanted Forest” in your Echoes anthology.

E) After writing the rough draft, have someone peruse it and offer feedback. Your editor should consider the following questions. Is the essay convincing? Is more evidence required to support the thesis? Is it effectively organized? Does the essay contradict itself? Are there errors in spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure?

My writing for first paragraph:

My ideas for the rest:

Exaggerated news: Leading to the numbness of the audiences’ emotions. Distrust of the news: Even the political, international news–affects the national unity.

TV drama episodes: only care about watch ratings: violence, pornographyonly, drama tension, stimulation– bad impact on children

Reports on celebrities’ private life, does not respect personal privacy, personal safety

4. Values control: The mainstream media advocates one kind of thinking to meet the public’s psychological expectations. it will lead to the superior feeling of some young people. The over-advocacy of one-sided values is overshadowed on other small portion of the rest values.

Opposite: In order to rate or read, you have to attract attention and exaggerate the content. But the influence on society is far greater than expected. Vicious competition

The era of entertainment, entertainment is the first productivity

Sometimes the reality of darkness is not suitable for all children to see. Complete reports may not be the best, the most moral way. But society needs real, people should see every aspect of the world to understand the real world.
